St. Joseph Health System and St. Joseph Foundation are hosting a Family Health & Safety Day on Saturday, September 18 at 8am – Noon at the Hale United Methodist Church located at 201 W. Main Street. The health fair is free of charge and open to all community members.
The event will begin with a free pancake breakfast from 8-9am. Mahmood Hasan, M.D. and Hugo Davila, M.D. will provide free prostate screens to the first 50 registrants and Joel Pestrue, PA from Oscoda Health Park will provide free skin cancer screens to the first 25 registrants. Appointments for the prostate and skin cancer screens must be scheduled in advance by calling 989.362.9404. In addition, there will be health related educational booths, blood pressure checks, children activities and a bone marrow drive that is free to the first 50 participants.
There will be three presentations throughout the morning, at 8:45am Dr. Davila will give a presentation on the importance of prostate screens, at 9:45am, Michigan State Police Detective, Jennifer Pintar will speak on the importance of home safety, emergency preparedness, internet safety and Identity theft and at 11am SJHS Dietitian, Susan Blair will present on the importance of healthy eating and nutrition.
