The wound care enter was established in 2003 as part of the Specialty Clinic Services. Nan Pittenger, RN, BSN, CWOCN (certified wound, ostomy, and continence nurse) staffs the clinic 1-3 days a week under the supervision of Dr. Marilee Brandt.
The center sees and treats patients with many different types of wounds including leg ulcers, burns, diabetic foot/leg ulcers, non healing surgical wounds, trauma injuries, radiation damage, pressure sores and a variety of many other wounds. In addition services are provided for complications of ostomies.
Treatment may be initiated by a phone or written referral to the Specialty Clinic Wound Center by your physician. Please contact 1-989-362-0188.
Ostomy Support Group
St. Joseph Health System provides an ostomy support group that meets quarterly in the hospital. The group is led by Nan Pittenger RN, BSN, CWOCN. Various speakers and product representatives provide education information. Ostomates also help one another with ideas and suggestions. Anyone with an ostomy, relative of someone with an ostomy or just interested in learning about ostomies is welcome to attend. There is no cost. Meeting dates and times are published in the local newspapers.
