Volunteers - The Heart of St. Joseph Health System
As a member of the St. Joseph Health System Volunteer Family we offer you flexible scheduling, training where needed and assignments that fit your skills and interests. We make every effort to ensure you are working toward a meaningful mission and you are a valued partner in that work.
We are proud of our volunteers and the services they provide. They are a gift to our healing mission and a generous witness to the people who are served by their kindness and generosity. Volunteers enhance the care we provide by assisting our staff and by adding a personal touch that patients, residents and families truly appreciate. At the same time, they develop new skills, experience the warmth of helping others and form lasting friendships.
Our dedicated volunteers range in age from 16-90+. They are from varied backgrounds; retirees, students, parents and others. They provide a diverse array of services to many areas inside and outside our facility including fundraising, clerical projects, lobby desk/guest assistance, gift shop, radiology, hospice, Courtesy Coach free transportation, community outreach and more.
The volunteers’ successful fundraising efforts have raised more than $500,000 to support health care services to our community. Their 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle raffle was recognized nationally by the American Hospital Association for developing innovative approaches to fundraising, providing leadership in the field of hospital volunteerism and achieving an astounding net profit of $29,088 which helped support the Cardiovascular Surgical Center, the Courtesy Coach Program and other needed services. As our services grow, volunteers continue to play a vital role in helping us to maintain our tradition of excellent patient care and outstanding service to our community.
