Visitor Guidelines

St. Joseph Health System understands visits from family and friends are a vital part of a patient's care plan and healing process.  Guests are asked to observe the following guidelines to support a positive care experience for all patients:

  • Observe patient visiting hours
  • Healthy visitors only to limit any potential infectious exposure to patients
  • Observe the hospital's "NO SMOKING ON HOSPITAL GROUNDS” policy -  this includes all outside entrances and parking areas on hospital premis
  • Leave the patient's room when care is rendered, unless otherwise instructed by patient and staff
  • Respect the privacy of other patients by speaking softly and keeping the television volume at a reasonable level
  • It is recommended that children under 12-years of age do not visit patients
  • Limit the number of visitors to two persons at one time

Visiting Hours

General visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Visitors are asked to observe these hours unless other arrangements have been made with prior approval from a member of St. Joseph's nursing staff. 

A two-hour quiet time is incorporated every day from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to support a healthy recovery for patients.  Visitors are asked to honor this time and plan their visits before or after this timeframe.

Other obervations include:

  • Critical Care Unit - Limited to immediate family members only.  Visits are limited to 15-minutes each hour
  • Obstetrics/Maternity - When a private room is available and at the mom's request, the baby's father may stay overnight with mom and baby. 
  • Pediatrics - A parent/guardian is encouraged to stay overnight with the pediatric patient to support a positive care experience  

Cafeteria Hours

St. Joseph Hospital's dietary staff welcomes outpatient visitors and guests to utilize cafeteria services to support their nutritional needs.  The cafe' offers a variety of hot/cold foods and beverages and is opened Monday-Friday, during the following times:

  • Breakfast: 7 a.m. - 10 a.m.
  • Lunch: 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Dinner: 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Beverage and Snack Vending: 24/7

Weekend cafeteria services are limited.


St. Joseph Hospital's Chapel is available 24 hours and is located directtly across from the Emergency entrance hallway as guests enter the main hospital corridor.

Volunteer Boutique

St. Joseph Hospital's Volunteer Boutique is located in the hospital's main lobby and is solely managed and staffed by St. Joseph Volunteers.  All Boutique proceeds are gifted back to the hospital to support enhanced patient care services and technology. 

Volunteer Boutique hours are Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
