St. Joseph Health System is committed to providing patient-centered woman's health and obstetrical care focusing on the entire family: mom, dad, baby, siblings and grandparents. Our friendly, caring, obstetrical nurses, many of whom are certified in inpatient obstetrics, work with Board Certified Obstetricians, Pediatricians and Family Physicians to provide safe care for you and your baby.

Our patients receive a prenatal notebook at the Women's Center that was designed to be used as a reference book during the pregnancy, with information about what to expect and a guide to an enjoyable pregnancy. We offer an intake appointment during the last few weeks of pregnancy for the patient to tour the department, complete some of the admission paperwork, review the infant safety and security process, ask questions, and learn the department routines. When familiar with the routines, women find the hospitalization is less stressful.

St. Joseph Health System's Obstetrical Department has provided women's care for more than 5 decades. We provide a full range of obstetrical care in a homelike environment. Our department provides individual labor and delivery rooms and postpartum rooms that are family friendly and newly updated.

Our team of dedicated nurses, physicians, and anesthetists work together before and during and after the delivery. In addition to our excellent nursing care, our Anesthesia Department can be asked to place an intrathecal pain management block to help keep the patient comfortable during the labor process. Most women find that the intrathecal block provides excellent pain relief.

For our patient's convenience, we offer our childbirth education class in a single day format. It is held at the hospital on a Saturday every other month.
