2009 Special Events

Garden Walk

In coordination with the St. Joseph Health System Volunteers, the Foundation will host its first Garden Walk on Sunday, August 2 from 1-4p.m. in the Oscoda area.  Six area gardeners will serve as hosts allowing participants to tour their extraordinary gardens.   You are invited to enjoy an afternoon filled with sights and fragrances of creative and beautiful garden designs. 

  

All proceeds from the Garden Walk will support the new Scholarship Fund established to invest in the dedication of personal and professional growth of the area’s youth.  We are proud to have provided $6,250 in scholarship support to 19 individuals in 2009.   To participate in the Garden Walk 2009, please click

Charity Golf Classic Set For June 16

St. Joseph Health System Foundation is hosting their 17th Annual Charity Golf Classic at Red Hawk Golf Club on June 16. For sponsorship or team registration please click Charity Golf Registration Form or call 989.362.0159.  Proceeds from this year’s Charity Golf Classic will help fund new urological technology to support St. Joseph’s commitment of quality and innovative medical care to our community.

 

Gala 2009

St. Joseph Health System Foundation is proud to announce on Saturday, October 10, 2009 Timothy J. O’Connor was honored at the health system’s annual Gala with a lifetime achievement award for his service and dedication to the community and St. Joseph Health System.  For more than 30 years, Mr. O’Connor has been involved with the health system by serving as Development Council Chair, Trustee and Chair of the health system’s Board of Directors and currently Chairman of the Foundation Board of Directors.     

Shelley Buresh, Executive Director of the Foundation said, “As was echoed by so many at the event on Saturday, we could not have selected a more deserving person than Tim to receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.  He has and continues to be a true champion for St. Joseph Health System and the community.  We are very blessed with his support and leadership.”

Two hundred and five guests attended the event which generated approximately $18,000 to support the purchase of new state-of-the-art full-field digital mammography technology.  The health system will offer digital mammography in January 2010.

Wine Tasting

St. Joseph Tree of Lights

Each year, more and more people are diagnosed with terminal illnesses…family members, close friends and personal acquaintances.  Over the past year, the caregivers at St. Joseph Hospice have had the privilege of caring for 120 patients and their families helping to ensure that their final days together are lived with dignity, comfort and compassion.

By participating in the Tree of Lights Program, your tax-deductible gift will support our commitment of providing quality end of life care to those families in need.   Gift options include: 

a $10 donation allowing a white light to be illuminated on the Christmas tree in front of the Hospital in honor of the person you are remembering or;

a $25 donation will provide the donor with a hand cast Hospice Snowflake Porcelain Ornament and a white light illuminated on the Christmas tree in honor of the person you are remembering.

 

Healing Through Visual Art

In June 2007, St. Joseph Health System Foundation hosted its first Huron Shoreline Art Show to help create a serene and comforting atmosphere for patients and visitors.   The art show provided an opportunity to create a partnership and showcase the wonderful talent of the area’s artists in the hallways of the hospital.

Three shows are hosted per year displaying approximately 85 pieces of work at each show over a three-month period.    These juried shows consist of all medium types including watercolor, oil, pastel, acrylic, pencil, mixed media and photography.
