Planned Giving
Planned giving is the gifting of assets during your lifetime or through your trust or will. It is an organized approach to giving that evaluates your personal interests, selecting charitable organizations that are best matched and maximizing the financial and tax benefits of the gift.

One very important aspect of planning for the future is to take time to consider your overall financial and estate plans. Unfortunately, many people avoid making a will or discussing their estate plans. It is important to know that so many great things can come out of the planning process – most importantly, your own peace of mind.

When you are ready to start your personal planning process, consider using the four "P's" as a simple guide. This will assist greatly assist you consulting with an attorney or other professional advisor. Consider the following:

  • PEOPLE: Who are all the people in your life who depend on you or whom you might want to remember in your plans? (spouse, children/grandchildren, other relatives, friends and loved ones.)
  • PROPERTY: What are the various properties you own that together make up your estate? List real estate, insurance, annuities, mortgages, automobiles, furniture, etc. Make a note of the cost of each, the estimated current value and any income or debt involved.
  • PLANS: How would you like to match your properties to the people you have listed? Be sure to include any plans you have to remember your charitable interests, such as St. Joseph Health System.
  • PLANNERS: Who are the professionals who can assist you with completing your plan?
Once you have completed this process, you are ready to put it all together. St. Joseph Foundation would be most honored to be a part of your future plans. If we can be of assistance in any way or you would like more information about giving opportunity to St. Joseph, please call 989-362-0113 or email Shelley Buresh.
