• Childbirth education - Designed to provide a safer, more positive birth experience. Classes are offered every other month on Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Sibling class - A one-hour class to assist parents as they prepare their children for the arrival of a new baby and provide education to enhance a positive family birth experience for the siblings of the upcoming birth. Classes are scheduled on an as-needed basis.
• Safe Sitter - A medically accurate child care program designed for 11-13 year olds that teaches safe and nurturing child care techniques, behavior management skills, basic life skills and appropriate responses to medical emergencies.
• Reach Out & Read - A new program offered by St. Joseph Pediatrics, encouraging literacy through regular doctor visits. Each child receives a free book at their annual check-up, as well as special attention from Dr. Jo and her staff.
• Community First Aid - Participants learn to identify and care for sudden illness, various soft-tissue and muscle skeletal injuries, signs of shock, life-threatening emergencies and uncontrolled bleeding.
• Community CPR - Participants learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of heart attack and provide basic care for choking, as well as learn skills to perform CPR for adults, infants and children.
• Fit Kids - Assessing the fitness levels of area schools children to develop baseline scores to track the success of health and fitness programs. Educational materials are provided to the children along with their test results to help them make healthy choices for their future.
