Dietician

St. Joseph Health System provides various diet classes to assist you in learning more about nutrition and health. Classes are offered for Diabetes/Pre-diabetes, Renal (Kidney) Disease, Hypoglycemia, Weight Loss and Low Cholesterol.

These classes are instructed by Susan Blair who is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. The class length is about 2 hours and the location is Tawas St. Joseph Hospital. The fee to attend a class is $45.00 which includes class materials. One person may attend this session with you at no additional cost.

Some medical insurance carriers cover programs called Medical Nutrition Therapy and/or Diabetes Self Management Training. The diet classes we offer do not qualify for these programs. If you are interested in attending a diet class please call Central Appointments at 989-362-9359 to schedule your appointment. If you have special education needs, please inform the person who makes your appointment.  Payment for the program is made prior to class in the Cashier's office located directly off the main lobby at the hospital. The receipt is your ticket to class.  Every attempt is made to begin classes promptly so it is best to arrive 20 minutes prior to the start of class. Key elements are discussed during the first 15 minutes of class and late arrivals may be asked to reschedule their appointment.

We look forward to assisting you in improving your health. Education is the first step toward a healthier life.
